Outreach Home Visiting Program

In-Home Support for Families in Ontario, OR

The Outreach Home Visiting Program brings Treasure Valley Children’s Relief Nursery services directly into the homes of families across Malheur County and the Treasure Valley. Designed for parents who may not be able to access classroom programs, this free service provides flexible, compassionate support right where families live and grow.

Program Overview

Meeting families where they are

Our outreach staff visit families at home to provide hands-on parenting support, model healthy routines, and help navigate challenges. By working directly in the family’s environment, the program tailors guidance to each household’s needs, whether that means calming a toddler’s tantrum, connecting parents to food and housing resources, or offering encouragement during stressful times.

Outreach families have access to the same wraparound services as those enrolled in classrooms. Support includes:

How It Works

Step-by-step support from caring staff

Families can self-enroll or be referred by community partners. Once enrolled, a home visitor is assigned and schedules regular visits, typically weekly or biweekly. During these sessions, staff may bring developmental activities, model positive routines like bedtime or mealtimes, and help parents set achievable goals. Screenings are used when needed, and referrals are made for Early Intervention or the TAC Program if additional support is required.e

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our Outreach Program

  • What happens during a home visit?

A trained home visitor meets with your family in your home, usually for one to two hours. They may bring activities for your child, coach you through everyday parenting challenges, and help you set goals that fit your household. Each visit is personalized to your family’s needs.

  • Who can participate in the Outreach Program?

This program is open to families in Ontario, Malheur County, and the Treasure Valley who are under stress or facing challenges. Enrollment is based on need, not income, and is especially helpful for families who cannot access therapeutic classrooms due to waitlists or scheduling conflicts.

  • How often do home visits take place?

Most families meet with their outreach worker weekly or biweekly, depending on their needs. Visits can continue for several months or longer, ensuring consistent support while parents build confidence and children grow stronger.

  • Does the program cost anything?

No. The Outreach Home Visiting Program is free to families. As a nonprofit, Treasure Valley Children’s Relief Nursery offers these services at no charge so no parent has to face challenges alone because of cost barriers.

  • Can outreach families use other Relief Nursery services?

Yes. Families in the Outreach Program can attend special events, access the Family Resource Pantry, and participate in respite sessions and parent education opportunities. If a classroom spot becomes available, outreach families may also transition into the Therapeutic Classroom Program.
